The Walworth Fund provides an opportunity to make a donation to the school and its initiatives every year. Our Governors agree the priorities annually and have generously also enabled match funding for any monies raised up to £150,000. This means your donation is doubled!
This year, we have prioritised our hot meals provision. In the cost of living crisis, a meal at school is the only hot meal they will get. We know it's important for it to be nutritious, delicious and a substantial portion. We're therefore fundraising to ensure we can meet this goal every single day of the year - hungry children cannot learn!
It may help to know some of the following things:
- Any donation you make can be match-funded up to £150,000. This means that any amount you give can be doubled to ensure that maximum impact in feeding disadvantaged children is felt.
- We are proud of our catering team – we do not outsource catering to a third party. Our team are long-standing employees of the school and are professionals who have dedicated their careers to serving quality food to young people in our community.
- We are a Southwark Food Flagship school, recognised for our work in developing menus, working to a very lean financial model, and reducing food waste. We offer support and training to other schools in the borough so we share our work beyond our own school community.
- If you're making a corporate donation, we can work with you to build public awareness of your brand by promoting your restaurant with our staff and our families – our newsletters go to nearly 1100 local families and we have over 100 staff on our team.
- We are happy to innovate! If you feel that offering workshops, securing press opportunities, or running a promotion in your restaurant may be of interest, we are happy to work with you to develop a strategy that suits your business.
- Any donation at all is gratefully received. While we aim to raise sufficient funds to keep our meals provision secure for future years, we are genuinely grateful for even small donations.
Please help us to provide good quality food to children who really need it!
If you’d like to discuss any aspect of fundraising, or come to visit, please do contact Indigo Altschwager at ialtschwager@walworthacademy.org and we’ll arrange a conversation; you can even come for lunch if you’d like to!
