Sixth form

Our key aim is for you to achieve the strong grades needed to progress to the next academic or vocational step of your career, as well as support you to become well-rounded, open minded, articulate and highly employable. We have high aspirations for all our students and have been delighted to see recent students achieve results that put us in the top 25% of schools and colleges nationally for the sixth form progress. This excellent achievement is driven by a core commitment to a high-quality learning experience in a formal and academic environment. Ofsted identifies that “…learning is always good and much is outstanding.”

The proportion of our students progressing to Russell Group universities exceeds national average, with 26% securing places at these institutions in 2019. Our recent leavers have gone on to excellent universities including Cambridge, King’s College, York and numerous other top tier institutions, as well as onto higher apprenticeships with prestigious employers including Balfour Beatty. In the last two years our students have also been awarded over £40,000 in Ark bursaries to support their continuing education.

We also provide a wide range of enrichment opportunities for you to gain broader experience and skills that will help you succeed at university and beyond in your professional working life.

By joining our sixth form you will have unique access to work experience and professional mentoring through our partnerships with law firms such as Shearman & Sterling and finance firms such as J.P. Morgan, Bloomberg, and State Street. Our dedicated pastoral provision, in conjunction with Art network partners, IntoUniversity and the Access Project, will ensure no barriers stand in the way of you reaching your desired destination.

We have a range of dedicated sixth form spaces around the school, including a fully equipped study centre with individual study stations and sixth form common room.

Our core expectation of students is that they are willing to embrace the hard work required to reach excellence in both their studies and extra-curricular activities. Our expectations are unashamedly high, both in terms of academic progress and attitude. High levels of attendance, impeccable punctuality and a professional dress code are at the core of our successful sixth form; we know that excellent habits support strong examination performance and build the right behaviours to be successful in the world of work.
