Sixth Form Admissions Criteria
All students who join our Sixth Form study three A Level courses or a BTEC National Extended Diploma (Level 3).
Students must meet the criteria for each of the courses they wish to study. In most cases this will be a GCSE grade 6. Students studying other qualifications such as Scottish Highers or qualifications from outside the UK should contact our Sixth Form Team, sixthform@walworthacademy.org, for further guidance.
The capacity of the Academy’s accommodation for Year 12 students is 120 places, allocated in the following order of priority and meet the entry criteria:
- Students with an EHCP nominating the Academy as first choice, and subject to being able to meet their needs
- Looked after and previously looked after children
- Internal Applications
- External Applications
If applications which meet these criteria exceed the number that can be offered, applicants will be ranked by academic ability based on their achieved outcomes for their GCSEs. We will require external applicants to provide copies of examination results before taking up places. Meeting the requirements of any course is no guarantee that the applicant will automatically be offered a place on his or her preferred combination of courses. Entry into Year 12 will depend upon the availability of space on courses and will be subject to interview and positive references, with a focus on excellent behaviour, attendance and punctuality on current programmes of study.

Courses through our Sixth Form partnership with Ark Globe Academy
These subjects will be organised into option blocks based upon the timetable, with the intention of giving students flexibility and allowing common combinations of subjects. Popular subjects are often available in more than one option block, reducing class size and avoiding potential clashes.
Our course offering is dependent on the number choosing the course. Where there is insufficient interest in a course, that course will not be run.
* Programme focussed on achieving Grade 4 or above in English Language or Mathematics GCSE resit. Upon successful completion of the resit students can transition into Year 12 the following September.
