Welcome to the Ark Walworth Academy Sixth Form 

Our key aim is to enable our students to achieve the great grades needed to progress to their next academic or vocational step, as well in developing individuals who are well-rounded, open-minded, articulate and highly employable. We are extremely aspirational for all our students and have been delighted to see them achieve results that above average nationally for the progress made during sixth form. The excellent progress our students make in sixth form is driven by a core commitment to teaching and learning. We provide our students with a high-quality learning experience in a formal and academic environment. Ofsted identifies that “…learning is always good and much is outstanding.” 

We are proud to have seen leavers progress to degree courses at excellent universities such as Cambridge, King’s College, York and numerous other top-tier institutions, as well as onto higher apprenticeships with prestigious employers such as Balfour Beatty and Thales. The proportion of our students sustaining these high quality destinations is significantly above the national average. Our committed teaching staff monitor student progress rigorously and support students to achieve the grades required for their chosen university or aspirational school leaver programme.  

We are also committed to providing a wide range of enrichment opportunities to ensure all of our students gain broader experience and skills that will help them succeed at university and beyond in their professional working lives. 

We ensure that our students have unique opportunities for work experience and professional mentoring through our partnerships with law firms such as Shearman & Sterling and finance firms such as J.P. Morgan, Bloomberg, and State Street. Our dedicated pastoral provision, in conjunction with Art network partners, IntoUniversity and the Access Project, ensure that students have the support they need to realise their potential. 

Ark Walworth students are fortunate to have a range of dedicated sixth form spaces in the school, including a fully equipped study centre with plug sockets, USB and Wi-Fi at the study stations and a flexible group workspace. 

Our core expectation of students is that they are willing to embrace the hard work required to reach excellence in both their studies and extra-curricular activities. Our expectations are unashamedly high, both in terms of the academic progress and attitude. High levels of attendance, impeccable punctuality and a professional dress code are at the core of our successful sixth form; we know that excellent habits support strong examination performance and build the right behaviours to be successful in the world of work. 

Sixth Form Applications for entry in September 2023

The timeline is as follows: 

Stage 1: Apply online - applications are now live! Please click here to apply by 22nd January 2023. All correspondence relating to applications and admissions will be through this platform.  

Stage 2: Successful applications will be invited to attend guidance meetings at the Academy on 2nd February for the final stage of the selection process. 

Stage 3: Successful applicants will be made a conditional offer in writing. 

Stage 4: All hopeful applicants must attend Induction Day which will be held after GCSE completion on 4th July 2023. 

Stage 5: Students will be given Bridging Projects to complete over the summer to begin their transition from GCSE to KS5 courses, enabling them to get off to a flying start in September. 

Stage 6: On GCSE Results Day on 24th August 2023, offer holders must attend an in-person enrolment interview to confirm admission and course choices. Confirmed places will be offered on a first come first served basis; we advise you to arrive promptly as courses fill quickly.
