Staff Spotlight

At Staff Spotlight we shine a light on the staff members who have gone the extra mile. We look for members of staff who have made an extra effort for positive change in the lives of their colleagues and students. This is one way in which Walworth says “thank you” for their special contribution.

February Spotlight

Name: Mr Amponsah

Role: Year 7 Inclusion Co-ordinator

Mr Amponsah recently received an award from the National Citizen Service Challenge Programme. The programme aims to bring together young people from different backgrounds in a common purpose. Offering new experiences it gives them the chance to take on new challenges, learn new skills and meet new people. This helps children discover their own talents and realise their potential whilst having fun.  Mr Amponsah received the NCS School Champion award for successfully enrolling 37 year 11 students on their summer programme in 2015. All of the students who attended the programme graduated!

Mr Amponsah has also played a vital role in the success of the school’s year 7 and 8 boys and girls football teams. He coaches them every Wednesday and Thursday after school. The year 7 and year 8 girls teams are both currently through to the National 5-a-side tournament finals at the Copper Box Arena in Olympic Park. Not to be out done, the Years 7 and 8 boys teams are both in the quarter final of the South London Cup.

Congratulations Mr Amponsah !
