Art
Strategic Intent
Our Art and Design curriculum aims for all pupils to produce creative work, exploring their own ideas that have been inspired by looking at great artists, craft makers and designers.
It is our aim for all students to become proficient in drawing, painting and photography. These foundational skills will enable the young people to develop their own personalised pathways and independently explore a range of materials.

CARES Coverage
Students experience the creative process of being reflective about the work they produce. They aspire to imitate the work of others and demonstrate resilience in refining their competency. They develop an appreciation for the delicate resource and demonstrate self-management in looking after the materials.
Access and Exposure/Advice Guidance
- Students will have an opportunity to visit different galleries in London. We have had students work with galleries to develop their drawing or analytical skills.
- Each of our members of staff have a specialism, in our department we cover printmaking, painting, ceramics, sculpture, collage, digital art, photography and textiles. We can then expose our students to a wide range of materials and mediums.
British Values Coverage
The Art and Design course provides opportunities for pupils to engage in making art and at the same time reinforcing the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs in an exciting and visual way.
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Coverage
Working with others in groups, appreciating works of art from people of different ages, cultures and ethnicities and develop awareness of the emotional, social and economic impact of Art and Design.
