Sixth Form Admissions Criteria
All students who join our Sixth Form are expected to follow a minimum of 3 AS courses in year 12 and 3 A levels in Year 13, or a BTEC Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A levels) in both year 12 and 13.
The capacity of the School's accommodation for Year 12 students is 80 places.
In order to achieve entry into our Sixth Form, students must meet the required entry criteria for each of the four courses they wish to study in the Sixth Form. In most cases this will be at least a grade B in their chosen subjects. Please see the Sixth Form Prospectus for entry criteria for individual courses. Students studying other qualifications such as Scottish Highers or qualifications from outside the UK should contact our Sixth Form Secretary, Ms Wilson, for guidance.
Places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
- Looked after and previously looked after children who meet the entry criteria
- Applications from Internal students who meet the academic entry criteria
- Applications from external students who meet the academic entry criteria
We will require external applicants to provide copies of examination results before taking up places.
Meeting the requirements of any course is no guarantee that the applicant will automatically be offered a place on his or her preferred combination of courses. Entry into Year 12 will depend upon the availability of space on courses and will be subject to interview and positive references and excellent behaviour and attendance and punctuality records from current place of study.
If applications which meet these criteria exceed the number that can be offered, applicants will be ranked by academic ability based on their achieved outcomes for their GCSEs.
