Ark Walworth Academy Sixth Form
Welcome to the Ark Walworth Academy Sixth Form
We are proud to be a small, formal sixth form that is academic in nature. We have the highest aspirations for all of our students and in 2015 our AS and BTEC students performed in the top 25% nationally in terms of value added measurements, attesting to our strong commitment to teaching and learning.
In 2015 our students have been awarded over £40,000 in Ark bursaries to support their university education. One fifth of our 2014 cohort went onto top-level Russell Group Universities including King’s College London, Queen Mary and Oxford for courses such as Engineering, Medicine and Business.
We achieve these outstanding results through our careful, personalised curriculum planning, excellent teaching, rigorous assessment and tracking of student progress, our personalised and supportive guidance for students as individuals and through creating strong parental/carer links. At any time, we want you to feel welcome to contact the Academy if you wish to discuss your child’s progress. Your active support of your child’s education is invaluable to us and our joint support can ensure that your child achieves the very best levels or grades possible.
We proudly prepare our students for the demands of university or the aspirational profession of their choice. We ensure that our students have unique opportunities for work experiences and professional mentoring through our partnerships with law firms such as Shearman & Sterling and finance firms such as JP Morgan, Bloomberg and State Street. We also have bespoke support and tutoring for students who wish to pursue medical or health care careers including support with the MCAT and BMAT examinations.
All of our students in Year 12 have at least one week of relevant professional work experience and a planned programme of work readiness, which includes CV building and interview preparation. This allows our students to be prepared for the competitive nature of the world of work.
We have high expectations of our students in terms of their attendance, punctuality and personal conduct and enforce a formal business dress code. We know that the excellent habits developed in our formal academic setting will ensure strong examination performance and build the right habits to be successful in the world of work.
Our students are on site all day in order to utilise our excellent study and IT facilities and be near their teachers should they require additional support.
We appreciate that there is more to the sixth form experience than just studying and so we offer weekly enrichment opportunities for sport, LAMDA drama qualifications, debate society and volunteering. Our students relish these opportunities to develop alongside their academic studies.
We know that young people are ambitious and Ark Walworth Academy Sixth Form shares that ambition and wants to support our students to achieve their goals.
