An opportunity for selected Year 10 parents to meet with teachers to discuss their child's progress.

Art

KS3 

Year seven

Term 1 & 2 – Investigating Drawing - By the end of this unit students will, apply, analyse and evaluate formal elements of orientation, composition, scale, proportion, shape, form and tone within drawing. Student will build on basic skills within drawing and improve their power of observation.

Term 3 & 4 – Drawing and Purpose – By the end of this unit students will, evaluate the purpose of recording through the technical application of print making to create a series of prints in response to a design brief.

Term 4 & 5 – The Drawing Machine – By the end of this unit students will, analyse shifts between 2D and 3D materials and create a series of 3D drawings and body extenders to break drawing out from the 2D paper plain.

Year Eight

Term 1 & 2 – Investigating Drawing Part 2 - By the end of this unit students will, create a series of drawings applying positive and negative space, depth of space and experimental mark making. Students will be encouraged to question ‘what is drawing’ and investigate its potential.

Term 3 & 4 – Where we live: Examining Architecture – By the end of this unit students will, develop their contextual analysis skills under theme Classical Architecture through observational drawings, collage and ceramics.

Term 5 & 6 – Where we live: Examining Architecture Part 2 – By the end of this unit students will, develop their contextual analysis skills under theme Architecture of the Future creating mixed media collages and card architectural models.

Year nine

Year Theme – The Object

  • All work will contribute to Unit 1- Coursework

Term 1 & 2 – Drawing Workshop - By the end of this unit students will, develop their understanding of drawing practice; focusing on improving the confidence and standards of drawing. Students will experiment with the formal elements and develop their drawing as a form of communication.

Term 3 & 4 – Printmaking Workshop - By the end of this unit students will, develop their application skills within the printing process. Students will experiment to create a wide-ranging series of mono-prints, Lino-prints, dry point etchings and screen printing.

Term 5 & 6 – Painting Workshop - By the end of this unit students will, analyse and evaluate the language and narratives of symbolism contained within the object through sustained colour studies.

 

KS4

Year 10

AQA GCSE FINE ART

Year Theme – The Object

Year 11

AQA GCSE FINE ART

Term 1 & 2 – Expressions – By the end of this unit students will, develop the ability to work independently, develop their analytical skills as well as understanding how to develop a project in line with the Assessment Objectives. Students will investigate the title, experiment with materials and create a piece of work which reflects their understanding of the theme. (Unit 1)

Term 3 & 4 - Exam Project – During this unit students will, be developing preparatory work for their final exam over an 8 week period. Students then create a final piece within a 10 hour controlled assessment. (Unit 2)

Term 5 & 6 – Developing the Portfolio - By the end of this unit students will, develop their portfolio for final assessment in line with the Assessment Objectives and future career opportunities. (Unit 1)

Keep up to date with tracking and marking sheets in their sketchbook.  Additional information will also be available via fronter after half term, with full project resources and examples from past students.
